Lipsticks. (5% linoleum, & balming all the contextual issues of how we seek value.)

(As written in the code of Lowercase Elles, and the house of purchase-happy mentalists in the era of the Clueless post-consumerism.)

What the loosely termed “Impulse Buy” connotes is no longer a misnomer to the typical millennial with a conscience (MWAC) - they soon see the long-term value in a good investment, and sees it as something they will need to balance out with the ravage of a more independently-sustained existence that they have, minus the very limiting dictates of a hefty allowance or constant parental needling, and exercise a subterfuge of expressive entitlement, in all their free will - & live out their ideals.

We compare through the ages - when we were little, when we lived in places as multiple dependents (having more than one parent at a time - or functioning community to serve those who wanted to work in the post-women’s lib movements), as well as being in places as grownups. We have factors that sometimes span time, space, countries, and well, job descriptions.

But, i would think there is a basic “Tripartite” basic fundamental basis for all things purchased. I whittled it all down to Three Basic Factors, out of the long list of factors that might have adjusted all the considerations regarding your decision processes.

1/ Contextual Haggling : I wavered in the bits that didn’t include just haggling for me, or the buying food and everything for one - but instead, it coordinated the expanse of actual territorial disputes, from our geographical to contextual. Doozy on the latter, since we always need a level of sharing comfort to prerequisite the actual partaking into - we are more readily to share a piece of our croissant than our most private thoughts. In this century, at least.

2/ Cooperation with Your Own Kind: I think the children of X-er years negotiated these a little more discreetly. But the internet, and digital sharing has manipulated a dynamic for collaboration (positive), but also a harder trial-and-error dysfunction at trust propositions - since open systems get burnt, or are dependent on a socialist protective environment, and need everyone to be “on the same page” at some point.

3/ Leveraging all Digital Networks: Vaguely, the connectivity has more upsides - we understand in our own private time - we are able to negotiate a most effective personal system - where we can eat up 4 hours of eating time and flush that to sleep, for example. And it serves not to slow down productivity rates. So, we haggle and we cross-function, and this solidifies all the trust in the exchange, and the fact that time, our most communal and personal and mysterious of al assets, can actually be defined more into our simplest most negotiated common denominator.

4/ Social as the Antithesis to Borders: Being online is like your passport to all kinds of information. The reason we blog, is the reason we are all kept alive - with all teh viral content. We keep each other abreast of what goes on, where. Being connected is actually making a democratic effort at keeping everyone in the world entertained, and lively. No one should be having a downcast look at contributors on the net - at whatever stage there is. We all become part of an expression of what it is to be human - in kind, and in all likelihood will never turn into a commodity that gets funded - as much as toothpaste or antibiotics - but it will probably be the best bet to alleviating the horrors created in society, while keeping at the making of money in those tubes of toothpaste or lipsticks.

Carry on. Indeed.

This is a budding creative or artist’s palette: the arsenal of her soul. Sometimes, we mistake art to be the memetic equivalent of your expressed selves (however we want to define that in the immediate sense or the long run). Sometimes,... Continue →
