So You Went And Made A Startup.

So one day, you wake up and people around you were chipper as the sun was shining more brightly. That Mary Poppins wasn’t all lying about the weather affecting chalkboard-styled pathways to perfect. Having the old take it one day at a time to coordinate the plans that you have whittled out on your shiny little gadgetry of an alien-ware. So, you went all garage on that idea, and taken it to a prototype.

What now?

Are you taking that to the interaction specialists, and testing out your theory on that scientific road of a premise that you were going to save the world on? If so, you probably went and had yourself a huge cup of espresso to jump start your day, and trolled along the sandwich places to keep your energy up and, before you know it, you were asking other team members to come and join your efforts. Wait, that’s not how that happens? Oh the team went last?

Some jointed efforts have either a product-first, or product-last kind of methodology to their building. Some have it that idea (killer apps not excluded), and bounced it off people (VC’s most likely), and the bounced off people went “that’s great, get your gear on, and i’ll furnish you with the stuff you need to get that going”. That does not happen on this planet.

The planet of living entrepreneurs live and breathe a sense of accomplishment over what they build through time, don’t really fancy the aplomb and quickly dissolves the overbearing NO of most people they borrow money from to quickly vest their ideas into reality. Unless, this planet you chose to live on happens to be an incubator. Or accelerators.

These places, by definition actually exhaust their energies into seeing you launch your startups into the space of VCs in a collaborative spirit of longevity rather than “lemme kill your startup off the bat” which might not be helping their 10-30% per VC margins into the taking. This might seem a little strange that people want your idea/startup/little venture to fly, but i think it all happens to be a model of the ecosystem in which vests survive on as well. It’s in the end, a win-win for them when you win.

So, what’s in that cup of coffee of yours today?

Ah, the passing of clothes… and the wardrobe rota. It’s a prime tell-tale sign that summers are nearly off to leafy indoors and the pleasant chill that draws out legs to the long-walks of autumn. Saying goodbye to our my shorts and... Continue →
